The Lamborghini Diamante Concept is a design study of a supercar for the year 2023 with a surfacing inspired by diamonds. The author is Thomas Granjard from Coventry University.
Designed for the year 2023, The Diamante Concept is intended to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the brand Lamborghini.

As its name suggests (“Diamante” is the Italian word for “Diamond”) the design takes inspiration from the sharp, faceted shapes of diamonds – symbols of purity, luxury and preciousness – while the lines of the car are mainly inspired by the brand’s iconic Bull.

The exterior combines the extreme surfacing and aesthetic language of the recent Lamborghini creations with a number of distinctive elements
These include the extremely low front-end with the protruding carbon-fiver spoiler, the windshield brought forward on the hood and the intricate rear end, that takes the stealth-like, sharp surfacing to the extreme and turns the rear diffuser into a distinctive styling element.

Additional highlights include the the wing mirrors/cameras hidden in the front wheel arches and the movable wings.

In terms of powertrain, the Diamante Concept is powered by four electric motors fed by batteries that can be recharged using two micro jet-turbines.

Thomas created two body variants: a coupé with an all-glass, canopy-styled roof and a convertible version with a speedster-inspired, low windshield visually separated in two parts.

The interior takes inspiration form the human nervous system and offers a new type of interaction based on cables rather than buttons – recalling the connection between brain and muscles.

The distinctive control system consists of three elements/buttons sliding on three wires that run along the center tunnel/console.
The cockpit is essential and combines a surface treatment that recalls the exterior with the typical Lamborghini look and feel. Among the features is the LCD Display integrated in the upper part of the steering wheel.

Thomas Granjard explains, “For me a Lamborghini is a subtle mix of brutality and finesse. With this project, I wanted to create a supercar that wouldn’t be part of the mass production world of super-cars, not only because of how it looks, but because of what it does and what it offers to the customer.”

The project was Thomas’ final year degree project for the Automotive Design course at Coventry University and was on display at the degree show back in May.
