It’s not that we try drop our cameras, it’s just that life happens. The folks at Nikon know this, and have released a fully life-proof camera in their Nikon 1 AW1 Camera.

This is the world’s first waterproof, interchangeable lens camera to hit the market. The mirrorless shooter can be submerged nearly 50 feet under water, and in addition to that, it’s also shockproof, being able to withstand a drop of about 6 feet. While the camera is waterproof, it’s worth noting that although the camera will work with any Nikon 1 series lens, the AW1 must be paired with its 11-27.5mm f/3.505.6 or 10mm f/2.8 lenses in order to actually work under water.
The camera comes equipped with a 14 megapixel sensor, GPS, compass, depth gauge, and HD video capability among other features. The camera will be sold with the previously mentioned, fully waterproof AW 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens for $800 when it hits the retail scene this October.
