Peugeot 308 R Concept

Peugeot revealed today at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show the new 308 R Concept, which previews a future hot hatchback. The Peugeot 308 R hides under its hood the same engine as the RCZ R. This means it has a 1.6-litre (1,598 cc) THP turbocharged engine that has an output of 270 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 330 Nm of torque from 1,900 rpm to 5,500 rpm.
That's a lot of power from such a small engine. The R version of the Peugeot 308 has a specific power of almost 170bhp/liter. Peugeot rates the 308 R with a fuel economy of 6.3 liters per 100 km and a 145 g/km CO2 emissions level. Peugeot equips the 308 R with a proper 6-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited slip differential. Unfortunately, Peugeot forgot to mention the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of the 308 R.
They also forgot to mention its top speed. The Peugeot 308 R comes with a wide body kit, a two-tone red and black exterior finish and a wide track. The 308 R's body kit includes a new front bumper with three broad air intakes, a new bonnet with two vents for cooling the engine compartment, lower side skirts, a bespoke rear bumper, a roof spoiler, and wider fenders, of course. All the custom body parts of the 308 R, including the side mirror casings, are made from carbon fiber. Peugeot gave the 308 R a 30 mm wider track in comparison to the standard version of the hatch.
Peugeot equips the 308 R with full LED headlights, a 26 mm lowered suspension, 19-inch alloys, bespoke LED rear lights, and two exhaust pipes, one on each side of the hatchback.
At the interior, the 308 R benefits from the new Peugeot i-Cockpit concept. The hot hatch concept comes with a compact steering wheel, a 9.7-inch touch screen and a new instrument panel. Unfortunately, Peugeot did not release any images of the 308 R's interior yet.

Under the hood, the Peugeot 308 R features a reinforced engine block, and forged pistons. The French carmaker gives the 308 R upgraded brakes, with Alcon discs measuring 380mm in diameter by 32mm thinness on the front axle and 330mm by 22mm at the rear one.

So far, Peugeot did not offer any information about when the 308 R is going to go into production.
