Mitsubishi GC PHEV, XR PHEV and AR Concepts

Mitsubishi announced today that they're going to premiere three new concepts at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The first one, which seems to be an SUV, is going to be called the Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept. Mitsu's other two concepts are called the XR-PHEV and the AR. The Mitsubishi GC-PHEV (GC stands for Grand Cruiser), together with the other two, preview the Japanese carmaker's new design identity.

Mitsubishi's GC-PHEV is a full-size SUV that's powered by a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) system. The GC-PHEV promises to offer good off-road performance thanks’ to its S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) integrated vehicle dynamic control system. Apart from all-terrain capability, the S-AWC offers the GC-PHEV good handling too.
The Mitsubishi GC-PHEV comes equipped with next-generation preventive safety technology and driver support technology through wireless connectivity. The Mitsubishi XR-PHEV (XR stands for X (cross) over Runner) previews a future compact SUV that promises a lightweight construction as well as a plug-in hybrid electric drivetrain. The Mitsubishi XR is going to come with a body resembling a sport coupe.

The Mitsubishi AR (Active Runabout) previews a future generation MPV that will come with the mobility of an SUV too. The Mitsubishi AR is powered by a down-sized direct-injection turbocharged engine.
We'll have more details about Mitsubishi's new concepts, the GC-PHEV, the XR-PHEV and the AR at the time of the Tokyo auto show.
