The same guys behind the popular Nest Thermostat have introduced the Nest Protect, a device that brings a sense of beauty to an otherwise neglected object, the smoke detector. The innovative smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector will still keep you safe without driving you crazy. It features voice notifications (giving you a better sense of how to respond to the alarm), a glowing status ring (changes color letting you know if everything is ok or if there is a potential problem or emergency), a pathlight function (automatically lights your path at night) and a hands-free button for false alarms(simply wave your hand a few times toward Nest Protect to silence it).
