Oshkosh Has Received Orders for the SandCat from Kazakhstan

Oshkosh has received orders for the SandCat from Kazakhstan. 20 april in Astana showed the first armored vehicles purchased for the needs of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, reported military-informant.com.

The Sandcat is based on a shortened Ford F-350 Super Duty commercial pickup truck chassis. Newer vehicles are based on the F-550 Super Duty chassis.

Lightweight armor of the Sandcat is a combination of steel, ceramics and composite materials. This light protected vehicle has variable levels of protection. Various modular armor kits can be fitted. Vehicle can be uparmored in the field. Interior is lined with a spall liner. Later production vehicles have a V-shaped hulls and mine blast-absorbing seats. Sandcats produced since 2010 have twice the mine protection of an original vehicle. An NBC protection and fire supression systems are proposed as an option.

Recent versions are powered by a Ford 6.4-liter turbocharged diesel engine, developing 325 hp. There is also a 6.7-liter diesel, developing 400 hp. Engine is mated with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Vehicle has a 4×4 configuration, which can be switched to 4×2 on hard surface roads. It is reported that the Sandcat has excellent acceleration and handling for an armored vehicle. Self-recovery winch is optional. This light protected vehicle can be airlifted by CH-47 and CH-53 helicopters, as well as C-130 tactical cargo aircraft.

A Sandcat Plus is a stretched version. It has 8 seats and is intended for special operation forces. Another stretched version has up to 11 seats. Other variants include a mine protected patrol vehicle (M-LPV), special operations vehicle (SOV) with soft-top configuration, utility and transport vehicles.

Falcon F7 Supercar

McLaren 570S

The automaker is debuting an all new range of supercars dubbed the Sport Series, with the exact intentions mentioned above. And if the first model is any indication of where the brand is going with this, then we’re excited to say the least. The 570S is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive model packed with an updated version of their current 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine.

This new setup will pump out 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, propelling the 2-door to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 204 miles per hour. It’s also worth noting that there is more luggage space available in the 570S than any other McLaren ever made – furthering the notion that a practical, daily-driven sports car is the end goal here. No pricing has been revealed, but early guesstimates put it around $180,000.

Ford Mustang Rocket

By adding a Whipple supercharger, Magnaflow exhaust system and a performance tune, Galpin was able to take this beast up to 725 horsepower. In addition to some work under the hood, the California based customizer also applied some updates to the exterior ranging from the carbon fiber body parts to the 21 inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero rubbers.

Galpin didn’t go at the exterior alone though, collaborating with Fisker Karma to design the aesthetics (the same guy behind the Aston Martin DB9, BMW Z8 and many more). Of course power and good looks can only take you so far without stopping power and handling abilities. That’s exactly why the crew installed a fully adjustable suspension setup sourced from Steeda and Brembo brakes on all four corners. The exact pricing details still aren’t clear, but you can expect to spend north of $100,000 for this 2-door animal.

Aston Martin Thunderbolt Vanquish

Designed by Fisker as a V12 Vanquish coupe, this sinewy seductress features hand-laid coach-built carbon fiber bodywork with a dramatically clean body and deeply sculpted air ducting, while the hood is dominated by a large power dome with long triangular sculpted air intakes. Other exterior design highlights include thin protruding tail lamps, a wraparound rear window and panoramic dark tinted glass roof, and it all sits 15 millimeters lower on 21-inch alloy wheels with performance tires. Inside there’s an 11.6-inch curved touchscreen from Panasonic, specially trimmed leather surfaces, and a wine bottle holder, which should probably hold champagne to celebrate anyone ever getting to ride in this creation.

Koenigsegg Regera

The Koenigsegg Regera supercar and its insane potential for 1,500 horsepower oughta slay that mental image for good.

Of course, company founder Christian von Koenigsegg doesn’t want to use the term “hybrid” in regards to the Regera, but we’re not here to quibble, we’re here to gawk at that 1,500 hp number. It shares the same 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as the Koenigsegg Agera, and that gets the Regera to 1,100 horsepower, but three electric motors kick in another 700 hp. 

It all adds up to a promised top speed of 248 mph (in less than 20 seconds), 0-60 in 2.8 ticks, and what Koenigsegg says is the “fastest accelerating, most powerful production car ever.” Only 80 examples will be built, and we’re guessing zero-down financing won’t be available.

Honda Civic Type R Concept

Honda Civic Type R concept that had fans begging the Japanese auto maker to put it in production. And today we get the final product – our first look at the 2016 Honda Civic Type R.

On the outside, it shares a lot of similarities with the aforementioned concept including an aggressive body kit complete with a large rear diffuser and oversized spoiler out back. But let’s get to the good stuff shall we? 

Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC engine making 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, helping the brand’s flagship model sprint to 60 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds from a dead stop. Other updates include a Dual Axis Strut suspension, adaptive dampers, electronic steering, and a revamped +R driving mode. All of these updates helped the sports car clock a 7-minute 53.63-second lap at Nurburgring, and a top speed of 167 mph.

Aston Martin DBX Concept

The DBX Concept, an all-electric, all-wheel drive coupe, is meant to “challenge the existing status quo in the high luxury GT segment,” says Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer.

It’s got room for four and is powered by in-wheel motors, while featuring drive-by-wire electric steering, carbon ceramic brakes, a KERS energy recovery system, toughened glass with an auto-dimming ‘smart glass’ inter-layer, driver and passenger heads-up displays, and cameras instead of mirrors. No word on performance specs or when it might morph into a production-ready model, but for now, but the eco-conscious millionaires of the world have a luxury car they can salivate over.
