The Volvo P1800 has always been one our favorite coupes from the 1960s and 70s, and now the Swedish auto maker has debuted what they are calling a “next generation” version of the iconic 2 door in the Volvo Concept Coupe.

The vehicle takes on obvious design cues and inspiration from the classic model, but has been completely revamped with modern day technology. The sports car utilizes a hybrid powertrain that sees rear wheel mounted electric motors mated to a four cylinder gas powered engine. The interior does away with many of the traditional knobs and switches in favor of a large touchscreen in the center dash. It’s hard to say whether or not this vehicle will ever make its way to the production line, but if it does, it definitely won’t be anytime soon. You can expect to see many of the styling and technological advances seen on the vehicle used on future Volvo models though.
