The One Hertz was first unveiled in 2010, after the long and intense design, development and manufacture processes carried on by watchmaking brothers Tim and Bart Grönefeld of the famous brand Grönefeld. It was the first wristwatch with independent dead seconds in the world, also featuring a brand new movement at the time, the Calibre G-02.

As time went by, the One Hertz was recreated in all sorts of versions. Some of the most staggering ones are the One Hertz Dune, a gorgeous rose gold piece unveiled at the Baselworld 2011, the One Hertz Fire, One Hertz Ice and One Hertz Platinum. This year brings forth the brand new and extremely exclusive One Hertz Techniek.
The aforementioned boasts with a staggering open-work dial with the intricate upper mechanics from Grönefeld’s in-house movement which comprises a total of 285 components – the Calibre G-02. The dial of the One Hertz Techniek includes a large dead seconds chapter ring, decked in sapphire, while the bridges, the other indicators and the Grönefeld logo have been crafted from stainless steel, which has been further bevelled, engraved and hand manufactured by experienced artists. It is quite interesting though, how the Grönefeld  brothers have decided to resurrect the dead seconds complication, as it has been forgotten since 1980.

n addition, the same open dial is encased by the edge of a shiny, top notch Grade 5 titanium case available in two different versions – natural polished, brushed titanium and black DLC coated titanium. The version with the black DLC coated titanium case has been dubbed the One Hertz Techniek Nocturne, though.
This wonderful piece is manufactured as a limited series of just 30 pieces. Both versions, the regular Technique and the Techniek Nocturne, boast Grönefeld’s ergonomic winding and setting mechanism, selectable at the single push of the crown, unlike the conventional watches, whose crowns are pulled.
