On a mission to create a phone worth keeping, product designer Dave Hakkens has created one of the most amazing concepts we have ever encountered. Introducing Phonebloks, a completely modular phone concept that will keep you from having to upgrade your phone every few years.
We write about the coolest products on a regular basis. With that being said it really takes a lot to get us up out of our seats, and Phonebloks did just that. This phone is comprised of multiple small blocks that attach to one large block, transferring electricity through tiny connecting pins to create a completely modular, totally customizable smartphone.
Photographers can upgrade the camera block, internet junkies can swap out the components responsible for speed, and our favorite part is the ability to swap out the touch screen block when it breaks. Electronic waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world, and one of the main culprits? Our phones of course. The revolutionary Phonebloks save us money, and helps save the environment as well. This is one of those products that you really have to watch the video to appreciate.
