Two years ago, during the international defense industry exhibition «IDEF 2011" CEO of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Muharrem Dorktasli announced the intention to create a new twin-engine helicopter for civilian and military applications. seems now, this idea begins to be realized. According to the Defense Ministry Undersecretariat of industrial Turkey, recently held its first working meeting with representatives of the TAI regarding the launch of the Turkish national helicopter program.
The aim of the project is to create a helicopter, designed to address the training and multi-purpose tasks. Relying solely on national resources, TAI will develop a lightweight twin-engine helicopter, designed for three crew members and nine passengers.
The model will be certified by EASA for military use. Schedule of the program includes a number of the first test flight after 60 months, a certificate EASA - through 78 months, and qualified for army use - after 90 months after the official launch of the program
